Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's most popular songs about his home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver has been the symbol of the state to people all over. When I travel, I always encounter someone on the other end of the planet, one who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first thing they say is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short time in folk-based groups comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff initially wrote the song to Johnny Cash's tune with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver knew from the first time he heard the earlier versions that it could be a huge hit. After performing the song at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer made a recording a few days afterward.
